HOPE Christian School has received national
recognition for academic gains during the 2008/2009 school
year.
"HOPE is the first Milwaukee-area school to
earn Renaissance's Math Model School
Certification, joining an elite group of
schools nationwide that have earned this
outstanding recognition," said Steve
Schmidt, president and COO of Renaissance
Learning. "HOPE is to be congratulated on
this achievement, which clearly signifies
their commitment to excellence in their
students' math achievement.
"In addition, several of HOPE’s teachers
have earned Renaissance's Math Master
Classroom Certification for achieving
significant, measurable improvements in math
skills for 18 or more consecutive weeks,"
Schmidt added, "and they have earned that
recognition two years in a row."
HOPE teachers spend twice as much time on
math as they would at a typical school —
between 90 and 120 minutes per day. Half of
the time is spent teaching students at their
age-grade level. The other half is spent
practicing and learning at the students’
individual level.
