Accountability Reports
The HOPE Accountability Reports are a reflection of our commitment to transparency and student achievement in our schools.
Since opening our first school in 2002, HOPE has focused on helping low-income and minority students prepare for college. Our network has grown from serving 575 students in 2009 to 810 in 2011, a 30 percent increase. The average new student arrives testing two or more grades below where they need to be.
We use growth data to measure student performance and school success using the TerraNova 3, which is one of the most rigorous nationally normed tests in the country. This test is aligned with college readiness standards.
Last year's eighth-grade graduates grew from the 34th percentile on their sixth-grade tests to the 50th percentile on their eighth-grade tests, which means they gained roughly 3.5 years of growth in two years at HOPE. This is especially remarkable considering that more than 95 percent of our students qualify for the federal government's free and reduced meal program.
